Lin is a K9 search and rescue handler whose dogs specialise in cadaver detection. She and her two working Belgian Malinois are deployed internationally to disaster zones: earthquakes, mudslides, building collapses. The work is brutal and often hopeless in the strict sense; the families still need to know. She is widowed, stoic, fiercely loyal, and looking for someone who can sit beside the weight of her life without trying to lift it.
